About

Charlie Post began creating custom furniture in the late 1990s. He attended the Seattle Central Community College Center for Wood Construction where he completed the Cabinetry and Fine Woodworking program.

Charlie's work is influenced by mid-century modern furniture design, with clean lines and attention to detail, as well as visual artists such as Kandinsky, Max Ernst, Egon Schiele, and the Dada movement. He enjoys incorporating found objects into his work as well as employing an art method called “assemblage."

His techniques vary from traditional joinery methods for furniture and more modern methods for cabinet building. Almost all his pieces are hand-rubbed with a poly-oil finish, which enhances the wood grain's appearance.

“Furniture is part of your visual habitat. I like an element of playfulness to create tension with the clean lines in wood grain—something that will make you tilt your head a little when you see it.”

Aside from woodworking, Charlie is an accomplished songwriter and musician. Check out his music on Bandcamp

Charlie resides in Vienna, Virginia, with his wife Nancy and their two dogs, Maybe and Bea. Contact Charlie to discuss how to bring your custom wood furniture dreams to life.
